Professor Cosimo De Bari
Aberdeen Centre for Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Health
Professor Cosimo De Bari is a clinically active rheumatologist and translational scientist with expertise in musculoskeletal regenerative medicine and arthritis pathophysiology. After specialist Rheumatology training at the University of Bari, Italy, and obtaining his PhD from the University of Leuven, Belgium, Professor De Bari moved to King’s College London, where he was awarded an MRC Clinician Scientist Fellowship. Professor De Bari holds a clinical chair in Experimental Medicine and Rheumatology at the University of Aberdeen, is founder and director of the Centre for Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Health (a EULAR Centre of Excellence), and deputy director of the Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Therapies Centre.
National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society
Scottish Patient Ambassador John Paton is a patient activist in Scotland for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society. As a fellow of the European Patients’ Academy on Therapeutic Innovation, he has made patient group submissions to the Scottish Medicines Consortium and is a member of the Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group on Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Conditions. He is also a patient research partner on the management committee of Research into Inflammatory Arthritis Centre Versus Arthritis (RACE) and is part of the inflammatory arthritis research collaboration between Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham and Oxford University.
