An expert opinion: the future of personalised patient care in RA

As part of the Inflammation Xchange programme, Co-Chairs Professor Ernest Choy and Dr Elena Nikiphorou were joined by some of the UK’s leading experts in rheumatology to offer their key advice on best practice management for patients with RA, with a special focus on how to offer personalised patient care to individuals facing the daily struggles and challenges of this debilitating disease.

Professor Anne Barton
Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust

Professor Anne Barton is Centre Lead for the Centre for Musculoskeletal Research at The University of Manchester, and an honorary Consultant Rheumatologist at Manchester University Foundation Trust. She joined the University following the award of an MRC Clinical Training Fellowship and subsequent Wellcome Trust Advanced Fellowship. Professor Barton is an NIHR Senior Clinical Investigator, as well as Director of the University’s Centre for Musculoskeletal Research (a EULAR Centre of Excellence), leads the Versus Arthritis Centre for Genetics and Genomics, and is Director of the Musculoskeletal theme of the NIHR Manchester BRC. Her current research focusses on precision medicine; specifically, investigating the factors that influence treatment response to drugs in patients with rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis.
